Geographic exceptions to trout fishery boundaries

Background:

Creel and length limit geographic boundaries are often defined by permanent, physical landmarks like bridges and dams. These geographic exceptions or boundaries periodically need to be redefined due to changes in the landmarks or changing management objectives for the fishery.

Staff is considering the following to address the issue:

  • South River Delayed Harvest trout fishery upstream boundary - The boundary has always been defined by the base of Rife Loth Dam. This dam was removed in 2011. To define a new upstream boundary to the Delayed Harvest trout fishery that is immediately recognizable to law enforcement staff and the angling public we suggest moving it 0.25 mile downstream to the Wayne Avenue Bridge.
