Summary

The proposal is to (i) change the number of days following the opening day of the early segment of the fall turkey season from 11 consecutive hunting days to 13 days, and (ii) change the number of days following the opening day of the second segment of the fall turkey season in certain counties from 11 consecutive hunting days to 12 days.

Rationale

Legislation passed by the 2014 General Assembly allows hunting on Sundays in Virginia effective July 1, 2014, The regulation amendment will change the fall turkey season dates to include Sunday within the current season structure, i.e. the early segment will begin on a Saturday and close on a Friday and the late segment of the fall turkey season will begin on a Monday and close on a Saturday. This change will pick up two Sundays within the early segment and one Sunday in the late segment in the listed counties.
