Proposed Regulation Amendment

4VAC15-50-110. Game: Bear. Use of dogs in hunting bear.

Summary

The proposal is to change the number of days dogs may not be used in Madison and Greene counties following the opening day of the deer open season from 12 hunting days to 14 days.

Text of Regulation

Rationale

Legislation passed by the 2014 General Assembly allows hunting on Sundays in Virginia effective July 1, 2014, under provisions specified in Code of Virginia §29.1- 521. Hunting with dogs has been prohibited during the first 12 deer hunting days in Madison and Greene County. The regulation amendment incorporates the two embedded Sundays into the prohibition.
