Proposed Regulation Amendment

4VAC15-50-71. Game: Bear. Muzzleloading gun hunting.

The proposal is to include muzzleloading pistols in the definition of muzzleloading gun for the purpose of hunting bear.

Text of Regulation

The passage of House Bill 127 in the 2014 General Assembly allows persons to hunt big game with muzzleloading pistols of a caliber of .45 or greater in seasons when the use of muzzleloading rifles is permitted. The exception for muzzleloading pistols in this regulation no longer applies and muzzleloading pistols will be allowed for the hunting of bears during the special muzzleloading bear seasons.
